Canadian men’s soccer team to meet United States in Minnesota friendly in October

The Canadian men’s soccer team will play the United States in October.

The match on Oct. 6 at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn., will be the first meeting between the two countries since Canada beat the United States 2-1 for third place in the 2025 Concacaf Nations League at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Canada has won its last two matches against the U.S., including a 2-1 victory in Kansas City in 2024 that ended Canada’s 67-year winless streak on American soil.

Both countries reached the round of 16 in this summer’s men’s World Cup, which Canada and the U.S. co-hosted along with Mexico.

Canada bowed out in a 3-0 loss to Morocco and the U.S. was eliminated 4-1 by Belgium.

Canada will host Chile in Toronto on Sept. 26 and Peru in Montreal on Oct. 3 before closing out the fall international window against the U.S.

“The rivalry with the United States brings out the best in this group,” Canadian head coach Jesse Marsch said Tuesday in a statement.

“We’ve had success in our last two meetings with them, and that only raises the standard for what we expect from ourselves. It’s another meaningful test as we build toward what’s next for this team.”

The U.S. soccer team confirmed Monday that head coach Mauricio Pochettino agreed to a four-year contract extension through to the 2030 World Cup.
