Just under 500 homes and businesses in Lethbridge County will receive curbside recycling service starting October 1.

Director of Operations Ryan Thomson is thrilled about the new venture.

“I’m super excited that some of our communities will have curbside service starting this Fall and it’s a great benefit for residents and at no cost to them.”

Thomson outlined the six communties as Mountain Meadows, Fairview, Deer Run Estates, Monarch, Diamond City, and Shaughnessy.

“I’ll continue to monitor the program and review options for potentially expanding this to other communities.”

The service has been contracted out to the City of Lethbridge by the non-profit group, Circular Materials, who oversees the Extended Producer Responsibility program.

The towns of Coalhurst , Picture Butte, and Nobleford are also being added to the EPR project.

Blue bins are expected to arrive in mid to late September.
