AHS issues Water Quality Advisory for Milk River Ridge Reservoir

Alberta Health Services is now adding a Water Quality Advisory to an existing Cyanobacteria alert for the Milk River Ridge Reservoir south of Raymond. 

According to AHS, recent testing has found elevated levels of bacteria in the lake, resulting in the expanded advisory. 

That follows an earlier warning of blue-green algae blooms which, in both cases, lead to warnings to avoid swimming or wading into the water. 

At current levels, the Province emphasizes that gastrointestinal illness may result by swallowing the water and, in severe cases, can be fatal.
