High risk for fast moving and uncontrolled fires

City of Lethbridge issues new fire ban for River Valley with warm temperatures, low humidity

The City of Lethbridge has re-instated a Fire Ban for the River Valley effective immediately.

“Current conditions, including warmer temperatures and low humidity, have created a high risk for fast-moving and uncontrolled fires,” read a statement from the City Wednesday morning that also warned “Even a small spark can quickly spread in dry grass and brush.”

The City is asking residents and visitors to use extra caution when in the area, particularly with smoking materials.

With the exception of Thursday evening where there’s a 30-percent chance of showers, the long-range forecast is for dry conditions with temperatures hovering around the 30-degree mark.
