Temporary service advisory for Fort Macleod Health Centre Emergency Department

The Fort Macleod Health Centre’s emergency department will be shut down to new arrivals, beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening until 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

In a statement, Alberta Health Services said the 12-hour closure was due to an unexpected clinical personnel shortage and inability to secure temporary coverage.

“Emergency Health Services will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to surrounding facilities, including Chinook Regional Hospital, the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre or Claresholm Community Health Centre to ensure local residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need,” the release went on to say.

Anyone needing emergency care, during this time, is asked to call 911.
