ANNIE AUSTIN, known to family and friends as Ann, of Fort Macleod and formerly of Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre’s Palliative Care Unit on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 83 years.

Ann was the loving mother of Jason (Shelby) Austin and beloved grandmother of Jack (Cheyenne George) Austin and Charlotte “Charlie” Austin, all of Fort Macleod. She is also survived by her sister Mary Walters, brother William (Virginia) Kinakin and sister Verna (Don) Hahn, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Helen Kinakin; her father, George Kinakin; and her younger sister, Sophie Ziegler.

Ann was born in Erin, Saskatchewan. After graduating from high school in Regina, she enjoyed a career of more than four decades in banking and financial services, which took her from Vancouver to Moose Jaw, Regina and, finally, Calgary. Following her retirement, Ann returned to Regina in 2007 before moving to Fort Macleod in 2013 to enjoy her retirement near her son Jason, daughter-in-law Shelby, and beloved grandchildren Jack and Charlie.

Ann will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family, as well as a lifetime of close friends and colleagues.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Reo Hall, 470 – 17 Street, Fort Macleod, Alberta, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pat Siedlecki officiating.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to Julie and the staff of Chinook Regional Hospital; the staff and Annie’s friends at Pioneer Lodge; Dr. Beekman and Judy; Dr. Andrea Haner and the team at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre; and the staff of St. Michael’s Health Centre’s Palliative Care Unit.
