Charges laid against Lethbridge man following search of vehicle in Highlands neighbourhood

A 29-year-old Lethbridge man is facing several drug charges following the search of a vehicle last Tuesday in the Highlands area of the city.

The Lethbridge Police Service report that around 6:15 in the evening they responded to a call of an individual using drugs inside a parked vehicle.

Officers arrested a man and woman on scene, before taking a second man into custody when he returned to the vehicle.

He was found to have cocaine and cash on him during a search.

A sweep of the vehicle yielded a further 110 grams of fentanyl, equivalent to approximately 1,100 individual doses, nearly 30 grams of cocaine, 88 grams of methamphetamine, more than $1,000 in cash, bear spray and a collapsible baton.

Also recovered in the vehicle was property believed to have been stolen from a westside business.

The 29-year-old is now charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The man and woman, initially arrested, were released without charges.
