LETHBRIDGE – Three people, including a 27-year-old man from Lethbridge, and two men from Medicine Hat have been arrested and charged with drug and firearms related offences, after an ALERT Organized Crime and Gang team investigation March 27.

ALERT’s Lethbridge team, with the assistance of LPS, searched a vehicle and an apartment suite at Berkeley Place West.

In the apartment, which police allege was being used to convert cocaine into crack, officers found 474g of cocaine, along with 198g of a buffing agent used to convert cocaine into crack, drug paraphernalia, a .32 calibre handgun with the serial number removed and ammunition.

The drugs have a street value of about $47,000.

27-year-old Justin Reid faces six charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Reid’s arrest then led to the arrest of 58-year-old Arthur Cranston and 56-year-old Guy Cranston of Medicine Hat, who are facing drug related offences.
