Drier conditions, cooler temperatures forecast into September and start of Fall

Although we could some spotty showers on Thursday afternoon and evening, for the most part the long-range weather model for September is for cooler and drier conditions for South Central Alberta, so says the Weather Network’s Doug Gillham.

The senior meteorologist made the comments after his company released its Fall 2026 forecast Wednesday.

“It’s not going to be ideal drying conditions, but at least we won’t have any repeats of what we saw during the Labour Day weekend.” Gillam said when asked if producers will have the chance to begin their harvest.

“(When) we look deeper into the month, especially during the final ten days of September, it looks like temperatures will be warmer than normal, overall, and a drier pattern.”
