On August 23, 2026, OTTO BOSS transferred to his Heavenly Home.

My name is Arno Boss, the younger brother of Otto.

As many of you may know, our family emigrated from Germany in 1953 and worked as sugar beet labourers on a farm. Later that same year, we moved to a farm near Coaldale.

The following year, our parents were able to buy a house and move us to Coaldale, where we went to school. Since Otto was four years younger than I, we had our own circle of friends and different activities.

Otto was a very good guitar player, and as I played mandolin, we had some great afternoons playing and the family singing gospel songs.

When Otto moved to Montreal, we lost touch with each other for some time. Occasional phone calls kept us in touch as I had also moved away from home. Even after moving back to southern Alberta, we continued with telephone tag for years, with only an occasional visit. It was after Otto and Riny were married that we were more often in contact.

Otto was a strong believer in Jesus and we often had good discussions on scripture and our faith and relationship in Jesus.

When I visited Otto and Riny, Otto and I would occasionally go trout fishing; his favourite bait was corn from a can. On one such outing, we had many bites, but no fish. I asked Otto what kind of corn he used. He responded with ‘Nibbles’ brand. I said that explained everything. The fish were only nibbling, not biting. This always gave us a good chuckle.

I am sure I am not alone when I say I will miss Otto very much. I respected him, not only as an older brother, but also as a brother in Christ. For his loving wife, Riny, I have great respect for the exceptional care she provided over Otto’s last years. God bless you Otto, I will see you soon.

A Celebration of Otto’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Wayne Boersma officiating.
