As the demand for homes in Lethbridge continues to grow, the city’s acting mayor believes the type of housing also needs to be considered when building.

“What we’re looking at, is we need to build more attainable and different housing selections throughout the City of Lethbridge,” Schmidt-Rempel said during this past Wednesday’s Parade of Home breakfast launch.

“We’re working on that. We’ve got plans in the works. What we need to look at is, do we have appropiate and attainable forms of housing available for everybody to get into the market no matter where they’re entering from? That’s what we need to look at.”

Lethbridge’s population last year (2025) was estimated at just over 113,000, however, some projections have it rising to between 240,000 and 307,000 by 2050.
