Culinary Arts program begins a new year at Lethbridge Polytechnic

Some 4,500 students with Lethbridge Polytechnic returned to class last Wednesday – that included those in the Culinary Arts program.

Chef Mark Dieser says it all started out fairly small about 60-plus years ago.

“Pretty small then…little cafeteria…little area back then, but that’s how it started.” Diese explained at a Whoop-Up Days event recently.

“Now, we’ve grown. We put through 120 students a year from an apprenticeship to a baking apprenticeship to our regular diploma kids, students that go through there. Now, we do big events like this…the dining room. We’re a big concern now.
