Community Foundation receives $14 million dollar endowment fund gift

A longtime Calgary-area animal lover, who passed away in 2023, has left a $14.2 million endowment fund to six animal-based organizations. 

The fund, being administered by the Community Foundation of Lethbridge & Southern Alberta, is from the late Marguerite Dixson.

“We are so honoured anytime someone thinks about leaving us a gift in their will,” said foundation executive director Charleen Davidson at a ceremony Monday morning.

“It’s very humbling. This, obviously, is an exceptional gift at $14 million-plus. It took me a moment when I first learned about this gift, to really let it sink in and how much it was. So grateful to Marguerite. So honoured to be part of this.”
