BBB recognizes seniors on International Day of Older Persons

Oct 1, 2026 | 6:35 PM

With Thursday being the International Day of Older Persons, the Better Business Bureau of Southern Alberta and East Kootenay is saluting seniors.

CEO Mary O’Sullivan-Andersen says her group works with many organizations and agencies advocating for those in their advanced years.

She reminds seniors that the BBB offers free services that include education around such things as financial fraud and identity theft.

Seniors, more so than other age groups, are unfortunately more likely to be the target of a fraud, and in many cases, AI is playing a part in that.

The bureau recommends family members stay involved and educate their loved ones to never give out personal information online or over the phone.
