Community Justice Awards presented this year in Lethbridge

The Alberta government held its annual Community Justice Awards this past Friday at the Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre.

According to the Province, the biennial event is meant to pay tribute to the organizations and individuals “whose efforts help keep communities safe and resilient.”

There were five categories for award winners – Enhancing Access to Justice; Representing and Assisting Victims; Responding to and Preventing Crime and Violence; Advancing Offender Rehabilitation and Reintegration; and Supporting Disaster Readiness and Community Resilience.

Several groups and recipients from the Bridge City received awards this year.

Below is a list provided by the organizers of the event.

REPRESENTING AND ASSISTING VICTIMS

Aurora Centre of Southwest Alberta

Aurora helps individuals and families navigate the justice process with dignity, confidence, and care through compassionate, trauma-informed services. Aurora strengthens victim support, reduces barriers to healing, and enhances community responses to sexual violence and child abuse across southern Alberta

RESPONDING TO AND PREVENTING CRIME & VIOLENCE

Constable Chris Andrade Lethbridge Police Service

Constable Andrade exemplifies an outstanding commitment to crime prevention and community safety through traumainformed, relationship-based approaches that support high-risk and justice-involved youth. His work strengthens early intervention, improves access to supports, and builds safer, more resilient communities in Lethbridge.

ADVANCING OFFENDER REHABILITATION AND REINTEGRATION

Intimate Partner Violence Team (Lethbridge Family Services)

The Intimate Partner Violence Team in Lethbridge is helping individuals break cycles of harm and build healthier futures. Grounded in the belief that meaningful transformation is possible, the team supports, challenges, and empowers individuals to take responsibility for their actions, contributing to safer, healthier, and more resilient communities

Kelly Lepine (McMan South Pincher Creek)

Kelly is a tireless advocate whose efforts help some of Alberta’s most vulnerable individuals find dignity, stability, and hope. Her ability to see potential where others may see challenges has transformed lives and strengthened communities. Kelly’s impact is a powerful reminder that compassion can be a catalyst for lasting change.

Advancing Offender Rehabilitation and Reintegration

Kevin Anderson (Lethbridge Correctional Centre)

Kevin believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to rebuild, grow, and contribute. He has expanded meaningful rehabilitation and reintegration opportunities, creating pathways for personal growth and positive change. Kevin’s work demonstrates that rehabilitation is not only about reducing barriers, but about unlocking human potential.

Landon Gross Associates Counselling Services Inc.

Landon is committed to helping individuals create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. He supports individuals in developing greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and safer futures. His work reflects a deep belief that rehabilitation is not simply about addressing past behaviour, but about empowering people to make positive choices that benefit themselves, their families, and their communities.
