Victim/Witness Services in Lethbridge looking to fill vacant spots
The Victim/Witness Services Unit with the Lethbridge Police Service is looking to add a few more people to its volunteer base in the coming weeks.
“We get called out by officers. We’re able to be on-scene with people after something has happened,” says program manager Catherine Pooley, describing the group’s involvement.
“So, if there’s a traumatic event, or if a crime is taking place, we can be there with them to help them navigate through those first crucial moments, and then we actually help with the whole justice process. So, we can stay with them and make sure they have court updates. Make sure they understand what’s going on. Serve as that central point of information.”
Free extensive training is provided, which includes working in a group setting, to start.
