Canes on three-game win streak after victories from Washington State road swing
The Lethbridge Hurricanes return home from Washington State with six points in their pocket after taking all three of their games against the Tri-City Americans on Wednesday, 5-3, Spokane Chiefs, 4-2, Friday, and the Wenatchee Wildcats, 4-1, on Saturday night.
For Canes goaltender, Koen Cleaver, Saturday’s victory was bittersweet, as he gave up the lone Wild goal of the contest with just 21.4 seconds remaining but, more importantly, it evens the club’s record to four wins and four losses, and the trip’s result moved the club from the basement of the WHL’s East Division standings.
In fact, following play Saturday, Lethbridge had moved into a three-way tie for fourth place with the Calgary Hitmen and Swift Current Broncos and just one point back of rival Medicine Hat.
Logan Stuart, the game’s first star, was in on all four goals, scoring twice and helping on the two others, in a game that saw four of the five markers come in the final frame; the first, and the only marker before then, in the second with the Canes on the powerplay, and Stuart’s opener.
