In a statement, ECCC said strong winds gusting to near 100 km/h are expected today, but will diminish late this afternoon.

“Local utility outages are possible. Driving conditions will likely be difficult. High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind,” added the statement, released late Saturday morning.

It also warned of damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible and recommended securing loose objects.

The warnings do not include Medicine Hat or Foremost and eastern sections, however, extend north from the Alberta/Montana border and up along the Highway 2 corridor through the Calgary region to just south of Innisfail.

A cold front moving into the area is expected drop temperatures into the mid-teens for the next couple of days, beginning Sunday.
