Report shows YQL remains busy despite no scheduled commercial air passenger service

While there isn’t a regular passenger flight schedule to and from the Lethbridge Airport, the facility remains busy nonetheless. 

In a report to the City’s Community Issues Committee this week, details indicated that, in large part, charter airlines and medical transfers are keeping the facility busy.

And while efforts are underway to find a replacement for Westjet, who ended service in July, the report revealed that passenger traffic only accounted for two-percent of activity at YQL in 2025.

For 2026, however, and to keep it viable, adminisration said it’s also looking into other possible revenue streams like developing land, it owns, adjacent to the airport.
