Online Halloween scams on the rise ahead of October 31

Oct 26, 2026 | 2:00 PM

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Alberta and East Kootenay is warning of an increase in reported Halloween scams.

President and CEO Mary O’Sullivan-Andersen says among the fraudulent acts are companies offering deals on Halloween costumes and related products.

She adds scammers are relentless and this is just another example of the lengths they will go to to get consumers to click onto malicious sites.

The BBB is suggesting you don’t clink on links with random text messages and only deal with trusted retail outlets, particularly if a credit card is involved.
