Bridge City national award-winning educator receives board recognition

Lethbridge Collegiate teacher Celina Mathieu is about embark on a journey of a lifetime as she heads to Ottawa next month.

The Science and Physics instructor is one of sixty educators from across Canada to be presented with the Prime Minister’s 2026 Award of Excellence.

While she’ll personally receive a certificate from PM Mark Carney, she’s also been asked to make a presentation in front of her peers.

“They’ve asked me to do, like a mini-TED talk while I’m there, which I’m really excited about. We get to learn from each other,” said the educator to trustees Tuesday at a school board meeting.
