AUTO TALKS
Unifor and GM Canada reached a tentative settlement late last night that averted a possible strike. The four-year contract covers about 4,000 autoworkers in Ontario and includes wage increases, signing bonuses and lump sum payments. The agreement also secures production at GM’s plant in Oshawa, Ont., beyond a feared closure in 2019 and adds production from Mexico to the St. Catharines, Ont., operations.
