Over $150,000 in stolen property recovered by Picture Butte RCMP
DIAMOND CITY – Picture Butte RMCP have turned up more than $150,000 in stolen property, resulting in charges against two men.
Police say a search warrant was executed in Diamond City and another near Turin, on March 2 and 9. Items seized from the properties included various machine tools, construction material and fuel.
It’s believed that the items were taken from locations across southern Alberta. The Picture Butte detachment is currently trying to identify the rightful owners and return what was stolen.
Dylan Capton, 39 of Diamond City, and Devon Vanderlinden, 27 of Lethbridge County, were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. Both have since been released from custody.
Capton is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on March 28. Vanderlinden’s court date is set for April 26.
Sgt. Tom Howell says this was a significant seizure for the small communities, and thanks the public for their help.
