MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes are expected to name their new general manager at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon.

In a release Tuesday morning, the CFL team said it will make a “major announcement” at a downtown hotel.

Reports have said assistant head coach and special teams coach Kavis Reed is a leading candidate for the job.

The Alouettes fired former GM Jim Popp late in the season.

Popp also served as head coach for most of the season, but was removed with a 3-9 record on Sept. 19.

Receivers coach Jacques Chapdelaine was promoted to the job and went 4-2, but the Alouettes missed the playoffs.
