Hurricanes lose to Tigers in 5-4 shoot-out
LETHBRIDGE — The first period between the rival teams produced an uncharacterist lack of penalties and no goals, in spite of considerable shoving amongst the players.
What was lacking in the first frame, was quickly made up in the second. Just over four minutes in, the Tigers’ Bryan Lockner and the Canes’ Ty Prefontaine dropped the gloves and were cited for major fighting. Less than a minute later, the Canes were on the penalty for having too many players on the ice.
Finally, nearing the halfway point of the second, Justin Hall puts the Canes on the scoreboard, with help from Adam Hall and Keltie Jeri-Leon. Shortly after the goal, Calen Addison went to the bench after taking a puck to the face. From, there the teams alternated goals for the rest of the period.
The Tigers’ Ryan Jeyne tied the game at 13:34. At 16:01, Nick Henry potted his 18 goal of the season, putting the Canes ahead 2-1. However, the lead was short-lived, as the opponents tied the game 2-2 in the final minutes of the period.
