Full day of celebrations planned for Canada Day in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE – As our country turns 151, there is no shortage of ways for you to celebrate Canada Day in Lethbridge.

If you’re planning on driving yourself to the festivities at Henderson Lake, a reminder that there are some road closures in place and you are encouraged to park at Exhibition Park and walk to the lake.

To help you avoid dealing with those closures, traffic, and parking, the Lethbridge Canada Day committee is sponsoring a free park and ride shuttle service with a number of locations around the city. The service will run from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. and will get you to and from the fireworks.

Here’s a look at some of the big events going on around our city Sunday, July 1:

Henderson Lake

  •          10 a.m. – Red Dress Run, a 5 km charity run and walk around Henderson Lake.
  •          11 a.m. –  11 p.m. – Jim Pattison Broadcasting Main Stage hosted by Country 95.5 and B93.3 featuring an eclectic mix of talented musicians, singers, and dancers from Lethbridge and beyond.
  •          12 – 8 p.m. – KidZone sponsored by Joanne Feist of Remax Real Estate Lethbridge:  includes bouncy castles and face painting; an Active Living zone with many community resources.
  •          4 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies and dignitary speeches
  •          11 p.m. – Fireworks finale
  •          Prime Rentals Food Hub will run all day with over 30 local and visiting food vendors.

Galt Gardens

  •          9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Show & Shine hosted by the Le Baron’s Car Club
  •          9 a.m. – 12 p.m. – pancake breakfast hosted by the Interfaith Food Bank

Henderson Area

SLP Skate Park – SLP Canada Day Skate Jam from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Henderson Pool: Open 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Spitz Stadium:  Lethbridge Bulls game 7:35 p.m. start
