LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have announced that Bill Reddick will Chair the 2020 Memorial Cup Bid Committee, while Hurricanes General Manager of Business Operations Terry Huisman will serve as his Co-Chair.

In a release from the hockey club, it’s stated that Reddick is a University of Lethbridge graduate who has spent the last 19 years as a Chartered Accountant. He’s currently a partner with Mercer Wilde Group Charted Accountants in Lethbridge and has been involved in hockey in several capacities, including the Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association as a coach.

Reddick says he was pretty humbled and very privileged to be approached to Chair the Memorial Cup Bid Committee.

“I’m very excited. The first step for us is to reach out to people in the community about getting them on board in a volunteer perspective and try to bring the people around us that we know will support and give us the background to run such a prestigious event,” Reddick said.

Huisman has been the GM of Business Operations for the Hurricanes since 2012.

The Lethbridge product has served as a vital person in the resurgence of the organization according to the team, which includes leading them out of a dire financial situation.

Huisman says he’s very excited to sit alongside Reddick on the Memorial Cup Bid Committee.

“We think that Bill is a great person to help us bring the 2020 Memorial Cup to the City of Lethbridge,” he continued. “There is a lot of hard work ahead of us and that process starts now.”

The full bid committee will be announced at a later date.

The Hurricanes announced their intentions to bid on the 2020 Memorial Cup tournament earlier this year and are one of four teams bidding for the right to host the tournament, alongside the Kamloops Blazers, Kelowna Rockets and Victoria Royals.

Lethbridge has never hosted the Memorial Cup before.
