WINNIPEG – A new high-efficiency elevator has been announced in Carmangay.

G3 Canada Ltd. said in a news release that construction will begin “shortly” with completion expected in 2020. That’s when a new export terminal will begin operations in Vancouver.

CEO Don Chapman said in the release that the elevator will save farmers’ time while keeping their grain moving.

“We’re looking forward to being part of the community in and around Vulcan County and showing farmers how our industry-leading speed and efficiency can benefit their business,” he said.

G3 said its new elevators, including this one, can load 134-car trains in hours, and empty a Super-B truck in less than five minutes. The company just opened two new elevators in Saskatchewan and is working on two more, including one in the Wetaskiwin area.

The 42,000-tonne elevator will be southwest of Carmangay on the east side of Highway 23 on the Canadian Pacific rail line.
