CLARESHOLM —  RCMP continue to investigate an assault that occurred in the town early this year and are again asking the public for assistance in solving the incident.

Around 9:00-pm on January 20, 2018, an unknown man forced his way into a home in Claresholm and assaulted a woman.  A composite sketch of the suspect was released at that time and is being released again, in the chance that anyone recognizes the man.

At the time of the incident, Town Councillor Donna Courage stated a man broke into her home about 15 minutes after her friends left her for the evening, allegedly assaulted her, and told her to “keep quiet, leave town.” She suffered a black eye, and various cuts and bruises in the incident.

Courage, who was voted onto Town Council in October of 2017,  resigned her position in August.

Police said the suspect was described as caucasian, heavier set, tall, 35-40 years old, clean shaven with light coloured eyes.  He was wearing a black toque and jacket.

They believe this was a targeted incident, but will not speculate on the reason

A composite sketch of the suspect was released at that time and is being released again, in the chance that anyone recognizes the man.
