LETHBRIDGE – A five-day judge alone trial at Court of Queens Bench in Lethbridge that was to begin Monday morning, was over before it began.

29-year-old Drew Boake, who was facing four charges including two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime, has pleaded guilty in Court of Queen’s Bench to one count of possession of a controlled substance exceeding 3 kg.

ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime and gang team called the bust on February 11, 2017 the biggest in the city’s history.

At the time, four homes were searched, and three people were arrested, including a 23-year-old female who had charges against her withdrawn by the Crown, and 29-year-old Alexander Herbert, whose charges were recently stayed.

Seized in the bust were more than 8,000 ecstasy pills, 546 grams of cocaine, 305 grams of methamphetamine, 20.9 kg of marijuana, 4.5 kg of cannabis resin, 9 kg of psilocybin mushrooms, 1,605 tabs of LSD, 1,575 Xanax pills, $120,000 and four vehicles.

Boake’s Calgary lawyer Patrick Fagan told the court there would be a joint submission on sentencing and recommended a June date.

Justice J.T. deWit accepted the single guilty plea and set sentencing for June 17. Boake will remain out of custody in the meantime.

Federal Prosecutor John Oman told the court three other charges against him will be withdrawn upon completion of Boake’s sentencing.
