LETHBRIDGE, AB – The pavilions at Exhibition Park have been filled for the past few days for the annual Home and Garden Show in Lethbridge.

Exhibition Park Chief Operating Officer Mike Warkentin said the reception to the annual showcase has been very positive.

“We obviously went through a lot of changes this year, with some floor plan changes and the digital ticketing changes that we went through but the weather’s been perfect to get people here in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta thinking about their backyards and what to do this spring,” he said.

“We couldn’t have asked for more perfect timing on that (the nice weather) for the Home and Garden and it’s brought people to the grounds.”

This event was also a historic one for Exhibition Park. It was the first to utilize the park’s new digital ticketing service.

“So far it’s been great. Obviously, there’s a few hiccups along the way and getting it going on the first day, but people were flowing in and the tickets were scanning so it’s worked really (well),” he noted.

“The response we’ve seen in terms of feedback on it has been positive and (it was) a change we needed to make.”

He said the next big event launch will be for Whoop-Up Days. That event’s lineup will be announced on April 2, with tickets to go on sale on April 5 at 10:00 a.m.

The Home and Garden Show wraps up today, Saturday, March 23 and Warkentin highly suggests people check it out if they haven’t had a chance to yet.

“Enjoy the weather this weekend but make sure to stop on by because this weather means the backyard season is coming soon,” he said.

“Sebastian Clovis from HGTV is here (Saturday) at 2 o’clock in the South Pavilion on the BURNCO stage so I would encourage everybody to come out and see him.”

Guests can also check out different vendors covering things like decking, roofing and landscaping.

“Everything you need for that backyard leisure this summer is here at the Home and Garden Show, so I do encourage whether you’re looking at renovating, getting new cushions for the patio furniture, you’re a grill master, I just encourage you to come out and enjoy the show,” Warkentin said.
