ELIZABETH NARUKO ADACHI, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at St. Michaels Palliative Care on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the age of 78 years.
She leaves behind her loving siblings: Joan Skeith of Lethbridge and Ted (Theone) Adachi of Edmonton. She will be sadly missed by her nephew Anthony Adachi and nieces Dena Adachi and Kelly Skeith (Michael Tocher) as well as two great-grandnieces Olivia and Fiona. She is predeceased by her treasured parents, Kiyoko and Kiichiro, two brothers Spud and Yoo and brother-in-law Lloyd. While her family was small, it meant the world to her.
Elizabeth was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and finished high school in Lethbridge. She was employed at the Bigelow Fowler clinic in Lethbridge for over 40 years.
Her retirement was spent focused on her love of sport. Elizabeth was an avid golfer and an ardent Lethbridge Hurricanes fan. Later, she added Dragon Boat racing to her list of favourite activities when an earlier bout with cancer connected her to Abreast of Bridge.
Though she adored these activities, it was the cherished group of friends with whom she shared these moments with that meant the most to her.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the entire staff of the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit for making her comfortable in her final days. In particular, we would like to thank Dr. Smuts for her kind commitment to her care.
Elizabeth will be laid to rest with her parents, and two brothers at a private family graveside that will be held at a later date. The family greatly declines food, flowers, and koden.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road N.E., Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5 www.cancer.ca/donate or to St. Michael’s Health Centre, 1400 – 9 Avenue S, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5 www.covenanthealth.ca/donate would be appreciated.
