In loving memory of Earl Allen Bechtel who passed away surrounded by loving family at St Michael’s Palliative Care November 24/2025 at the age of 86.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jacquie Bechtel, sons Robert and Bruce Bechtel, and daughter Nicole Straga (Ivan) and granddaughter Olivia.  Earl was predeceased by his Mother Lavercia and father Melvin Bechtel, sister Joan Krueger and brother Gordon Bechtel.  He is survived by brothers Harold and David Bechtel.

Earl was born in High River AB September 14/1939.   He graduated from Olds college.  Earl worked for International Harvester in Calgary where he met his wife Jacquie.  He then moved to Lethbridge where he worked at YPM Chartered accountants for many years.  When not working he enjoyed gardening, long walks, camping trips, going to watch children’s events, visiting family in Ontario and Saskatchewan, and trips to Scotland and the Panama Canal.

Earls family wish to extend sincere thanks to the nurses and doctors at St. Michael’s Palliative Care for their compassion and support.

A Celebration of Earl’s life will take place at ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818 – 5th Ave South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Daniel Surya officiating. The Service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Earl’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

Following the service, Earl will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.
