EMILY BETEGH, age 67, beloved wife of the late Joseph Betegh, died unexpectedly September 1, 2017, from a tragic accident in her home. Emily was born October 13, 1949, in Satu-Mare, Romania, the daughter of Steve and Emilia (née Kiraly) Radvanszky.
Emily will forever be remembered and greatly missed by her devoted and beloved children; daughter Sophia Betegh, (grandsons Matthew and Zachary Hamelin and their father Geoff), and her son Steven Betegh. Emily leaves her sisters; Lia Robinson and Rita Smith, her brother Alex Radvanszky (Heidi). Emily also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; Julia Fraser (Stuart) (daughter Emily), Amy Smith (daughter Adelynn), Thomas Robinson (Nicole) (sons Owen, Noah and Bennett), Jeremia Radvanszky (Anya) (children Niko, Adrianna and Lillian), Patrick Robinson (Laura) (sons Jacob and Kyle), Joshua Radvanszky (Emily) (children Chase and Rogue), Christopher Smith and Andrew Smith; and her dear friends Bart and Suzanne Fontaine. Emily touched the lives of many; she will be missed, but not forgotten.
Angels will rejoice at Emily’s arrival in heaven and she will be welcomed with loving hearts by her beloved husband Joseph, parents Steve and Emilia, sister Julia Pickard, brothers-in-law Andrew Repaszki, Sheldon Robinson, Richard Pickard and her great-nephew Alex Fraser.
Emily immigrated in 1963 with her family to Canada at age 14. Emily met the love of her life, Joseph Betegh at work and were married in 1969. They had two wonderful children, Sophia, and Steven. Emily was an excellent role model as a working mother. In 1983, Joe and Emily started their own company where Emily worked as the Operations Manager until Joe retired in 2003. As she always liked to be busy, she continued to work for a number of years more.
Emily was an amazing, hard working woman; generous and with a kind soul, who loved to cook for family and friends. Her Hungarian desserts were greatly anticipated by all. Her grandsons awaited each Christmas for her to make “nagymama soup”. She was known for her artistic ways. She won many awards for her needle point at the County Fair. Nothing touched your heart more than when you saw her smile while laughing. It filled the room with joy.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jeremia Radvanszky officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
