RONALD COLP, beloved husband of Judy Colp, passed away peacefully at Fort Macleod Extendicare, on Monday, May 9, 2022 at the age of 74 years.
Ron was born in Provost, AB, to Norman and Edith Colp. He lived with his family on the Albert Colp farm near Edgerton, AB until he was four years old. At that time, the family moved to Wainwight, AB. He was educated in Wainwight and consequently, took a job in hospital maintenance at the Provost Municipal Hospital. It was there that he met and married Judy DeWolfe in 1969. They were blessed with a son Wade. Soon thereafter, Ron went to work for Pony Express and subsequently, he was involved in a truck fire, receiving serious burns on his face and hands. Medical staff predicted that he would need skin grafts but were later amazed when the wounds began to heal without any other intervention since God preformed the healing. Upon leaving the hospital, Ron received by mail a card offering him employment with Edmonton Transit and this caused the family to leave Provost behind and move to Edmonton. It was here that the added their chosen daughter, Gwena. They lived in Edmonton for 23 years in which time, Ron drove buses and/or trucks to earn a living. In 1994, Ron and Judy moved to Fort Macleod, AB, where Ron was invited to work for his son Wade for Loomis Courier. Ron also drove the Fort Macleod Handibus for 13 years. With retirement close, Ron and Judy moved to Lethbridge in 2011 where Ron continued at “the best place he ever worked”, Meridian Manufacturing until he retired in 2013.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years; his son Wade (Laurie), and his daughter Gwena (Dan). Ron also leaves his brother Len (Susie), sister Lee, and brother Dave (Linda). Ron had five grandchildren: Jessica, Jonathan, Arianna, Parker and Spencer, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Edith, his sister Cora, and brother-in-law Gordy Hanson.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at UNIVERSITY DRIVE ALLIANCE CHURCH, 55 Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 2:00 P.M.
