May 14, 1940 – February 8, 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donna Boughen of Bow Island Alberta. Donna passed away peacefully at the age of 81 with her son Carey by her side on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022. She was born in Aden, Alberta on May 14th, 1940, to Wilbert and Leora Ness. Donna leaves to cherish her memory her son, Carey; stepson, Greg Boughen (Elaine); stepdaughter, Lorraine Pennington (Lyle); her brothers, Stan Ness (Noreen), Ed Ness (Reni), Denny Ness (Irene), Marvin Ness; her sister, Bev LeBlanc (Chuck); her treasured grandchildren, Kiarah and Blake Boughen, Dan and Steve Boughen, Shari Harding, Sarah Krogman and Christine Jeske; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Garth; her parents, Wilbert and Leora Ness; her sisters, Betty Tremblay, Lou Lawson and Lillian Renfrow and Eileen Ponech.
Donna had many passions in her lifetime, but her favourite would have been her husband Garth, her family and the game of golf. She and Garth were married for more than 40 years until his passing in 2003. She had a career with AGT that spanned more than 30 years and it was a job she spoke about often and fondly. After retiring Donna and Garth built their home in Bow Island, Alberta, where Donna lived for more than 14 years before moving in with her son Carey. Donna and Garth were introduced to the game of golf by their son Carey and soon after developed a passion for the game that lasted for most of her life. Donna joined ladies league and travelled all over southern Alberta to play. She made many friends and a lifetime of memories on the golf course. Her love for the sport lasted long after she was no longer able to play. If you stopped by to visit Donna, you could bet the golf channel would be on the TV and she’d be rattling off stats like a sportscaster.
She treasured her time with family and loved getting together with the children and grandchildren, especially for a game of cards or the traditional Christmas puzzle. Donna was a mother, a confidante and a friend and she leaves a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring and dedicated staff at the Bow Island Continuing Care Facility for their genuine kindness and compassion. Your treatment of Mom will never be forgotten.
At Donna’s request, there will be no service.
