Marilyn was born in Fairy Hill, Saskatchewan on September 13th, 1934. She was married to App Dorohoy at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Medicine Hat on September 4th, 1954, until his passing on September 9th, 1996.
Marilyn worked for the CPR as a Teletypist and then began a career in Newspaper and Broadcasting. She took a hiatus when an opportunity came to move to England, taking the train across Canada to New York and the Queen Elizabeth Steamship to England where they lived briefly before returning once again to Canada. Marilyn was the Regional Director for Canadian Mental Health and worked for the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce before moving to Taber to spend time with her grandchildren.
Marilyn was very artistic and creative. She enjoyed painting, was an excellent seamstress and loved nature. She loved to cook and bake and care for her family. She started Blue Bird Originals and created beautiful hand-made cards with local pressed flowers that were selected as gifts by the Premier of Alberta for the Annual Premiers Conference in 1996.
She was predeceased by her husband, App, her parents, brother Albert Armstrong, sisters Maxine Breakell and Dianna Boyer and many other dear family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Duke, Guy and Eve (Jason); grandchildren: Tylan (Christine), Jonathan (Elicia), Ben (Martha), Mike and Sam; and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much.
We will keep her in our hearts forever.
