Posted Sep 10, 2026 | 4:11 PM

The Rev’d Michael Paul Ebsworth was born, raised, and mostly educated in Calgary.
He became a priest of the Anglican Diocese of Calgary after studying at Trinity College, part of the Toronto School of Theology. He served as Deacon and Priest in the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, Toronto; as Rector of the parishes of All Saints, Hanna, and St. Mary the Virgin, Lethbridge, and did further ministry at St. John’s, Claresholm, and Church of Ascension, Coaldale. As well, he served the L’Arche Community in Lethbridge.
He was also well-loved as a singer-storyteller in local schools and at the Fort. Music was a life-long passion; he sang in choirs from early boyhood, and for several years conducted “Cave Cantemus”, a small, amateur, a cappella choir.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, two daughters, a son-in-law, and a sister and her family. He died September 5, 2026, days after turning 80.
A gathering will be held at a later date.
