REVEREND PETER J. ENTZ, beloved husband of the late Katie Entz, of the Crystal Spring Hutterian Brethren in Magrath, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the age of 87 years.
At the time of his passing, Peter was the Bishop of the Lehrerleut Conference of the Hutterian Brethren Church, a position he held for 13 years. Peter had been a Minister in the Hutterian Brethren Church for 46 years.
Peter was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He performed his duties as Minister and Bishop in exemplary Hutterite fashion: with humility, dignity and grace at all times. He was a leader who served the Church and the Hutterite community in a truly unselfish manner and his guidance and leadership will be dearly missed. Peter always gave respect to those who had the privilege to meet him and that respect was returned many times over with his extraordinary character. He was a constant reminder that you can have a huge impact even when you speak softly and calmly. Anyone who had the honour of dealing with Peter was left a better person for it. Lehrerleut means “People of the Teacher” and Peter exemplified this as he was a natural teacher who willingly shared his knowledge, convictions and hope.
Peter’s faith and leadership strengthened his community – people who have joined together to enjoy all things common, being all of one mind, heart and soul, according to the ways of those whom men call Hutterians.
A Funeral Service will be held at the CRYSTAL SPRING COLONY, Magrath, AB on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 11:30 A.M.
Interment will follow at the Crystal Spring Colony Cemetery.
