DAWN MARIE FOLK, beloved wife of Shawn Folk of Lethbridge, passed away at home on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the age of 51 years.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her daughter Madison of Lethbridge, her son Dawson of Lethbridge, her mom Betty-Anne of Sioux Lookout, ON and her sisters Kelly (Mark) Visser of Lethbridge, Tracy LaRose of Edmonton and Lori (Gordon) Schiller of Red Deer. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Kelly, Mackenzie, Lindsay, Brette, Brendon, Carson and Kaden.
She was predeceased by her father Dennis Allan Mathews of Taber.
Dawn was born in Lethbridge. She was raised in Redcliff, where she grew up attending Parkside School. She then attended McCoy High in Medicine Hat and graduated from Catholic Central High School after her family had moved to Lethbridge before her Grade 12 year. After high school, she attended SAIT and obtained her diploma in Dental Assisting. She then worked for Dr. Malmberg for several years. After marrying Shawn in 1991, they welcomed Madison into the world in 1996, followed by Dawson in 1999.
In October of 1999, our lives changed with the discovery of a brain tumour– hence the fearless, tireless, unselfish life of not fighting cancer, but living with cancer for 19 and a half years. The ups and the downs, the battles and the blessings came to a peaceful end with Dawn’s last wish to pass peacefully at home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a foundation that is being created in memory of Dawn.
