We regret to announce the passing of our dear Father and Grandfather JULIUS GROZLI. Julius was born November 18, 1936, in Varpalota, Hungary. He came to Canada in 1955 and lived in Victoria for a short time. His job with the CN rail brought him to Lethbridge where he settled. In Lethbridge, he worked many times two jobs to support his family. He worked at Canada Packers and City of Lethbridge, to name a few. In the evenings, he was a bartender. His days off were spent out in his garden, cooking, fishing with his children and friends, hunting, and always helping others. Julius had a love for dancing as well. He took great pride teaching his daughter and his grandchildren how to waltz and polka. Julius belonged to the Hungarian Club in Lethbridge and was very proud of his heritage. Many times through the years, the Hungarian Club had a float in the Whoop-Up Days Parade. Julius and the group would be on the float dancing their traditional Hungarian dances in full costume. Julius touched many lives around him with his infectious laugh, love of cooking and gardening. He could make anything grow.
Julius is survived by his daughter Leslie Hecher (Dan), son Michael Grozli (Alison); stepsons John Grozli (Andrea) and Mike Fisher; granddaughters Melyssa Hecher & fiancé Ted Stringer, Ashley Hecher, Chase Grozli and Bryce Grozli; stepgrandchildren Natasha (Colin) Latta, Ben Fisher, Sydnee Ferguson and Sean Fisher, as well as three step great-grandchildren. Julius survived two strokes and spent the last few years at Columbia Assisted Living. Here, he was their resident gardener.
Julius’ family would like to thank Dr. Steeves for his care, Columbia House for looking after him these last few years, St. Michael’s Palliative Care for the care he received in his final days and Father Alphonse for his final blessing. A special thank you to Doug Hazuda from Cornerstone Funeral Home for all your help with Julius’ final wishes.
An Interment for Julius will be held for family and close friends in the spring.
