MARVIS MARY LOUISE HAYWARD, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Frank Samuel Hayward, passed away peacefully at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Monday, June 29, 2026 at the age of 98 years.
Marvis was born in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) Ontario on May 18th, 1928 to Walter and Marie Perry. As a teenager, she moved to Abbotsford, BC with her family where she met and married Frank Hayward who was serving in the R.C.A.F. Together, they had four sons: Perry (Amber), Marc (Angelica), Ward (Laura), and Tyler (Shauna). She has eight grandchildren: Jonathon (Jaime), Ryan, Mickey (Kenzie), Jessika (Geoff), Chelsea (Robbie), Taylor (Austin), Cooper (Justine), and Taren (Tanner); and three great-grandchildren: Aiden, Hudson and Linnaea. She is also survived by her sister Elaine Lay and sister-in-law Lillian Perry as well as many special nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents as well as a sister Lynn Perry, brother Harvey Perry, sister Joan Bradshaw, and brothers-in-law Ray Bradshaw and Jack Lay.
Marvis and Frank settled in Lethbridge where they raised their four boys. In 1976, she went to work for Woodwards in the linens and domestics department, and stayed for over 15 years. Marvis was a life-long volunteer serving in the Catholic Women’s league for 50 years, including being president. She also volunteered at Chinook Regional Hospital for many years, as well as for the lost Soul Ultra Marathon, where many of her family have been participants.
Marvis loved to travel and after Frank passed, she took many trips with her sister Joan and her friends. Marvis loved her time at Black Rock Terrace, where again she volunteered and socialized. We would like to thank the staff at Edith Cavell Care Centre for her care in the last eight months of her life.
