BEATRICE CATHERINE HERBST, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Ralph Herbst, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the age of 79 years.

Beatrice will be forever remembered and loved by her four children; Morris (Darla) Herbst of Yorkton, SK; Denelda (Hermel) Michaud of Rogersville, NB; Raphael Herbst of Edmonton, AB; and Fabian (Debbie) Herbst of Lethbridge, AB. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Nicholas (Anna) Herbst, Jeffrey (Hailey) Herbst, Kelly Herbst, Cassandra (Andrew) Michaud and Christopher (Samantha) Michaud, and eight great-grandchildren: Aaron Herbst, Beverly Herbst, Riley Herbst, Patrick Bible, Matthew Bible, Tyler Heggaton, Scarlett Michaud, and Mackenzie Michaud. Beatrice is also lovingly remembered by her three sisters.

Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, her parents, Joseph and Anna Wist, as well as three brothers and five sisters.

Beatrice was born on October 18, 1944, at Prelate, SK, to Joseph and Anna Wist; she was one of 12 children. Beatrice and Ralph were married in 1962, and over the years they lived in Paradise Valley, AB; Unity, SK; Cold Lake, AB; and most recently in Lethbridge, AB.

Beatrice loved baking and cooking, and many will remember her for the delicious meals she always prepared. She also cleaned houses and babysat children. In her later years, she became legally blind, which limited her activities. If you visited her at the Lodge, she was either listening to audiobooks, old-time music, or playing solitaire with her special cards. She also spent many hours during the day listening to Mass on TV, praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, or praying her Rosary.

She cherished time with family and friends and will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and happiness she brought to many. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

A Prayer Vigil will be held at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 — 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. with Sharon Hagel officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 12:30 P.M. with Father Tim Boyle celebrating.

Following the Funeral Mass, Beatrice will be laid to rest with her husband Ralph, in Mountain View Cemetery.
