February 28, 1940 – August 2, 2016
LYDIA HETESY, (nee Kuhn) was born on February 29, 1940 in Dnipropetrovsk Russia. Because she was a leap year baby they moved her birthday back to the 28th. Lydia emigrated from Russia to Canada with her mother Albina and a few other relatives when she was nine years old. While living in Saskatchewan she took a job cleaning a farmers house for 3 years. Lydia moved to Coaldale and attended school there until she was 14 and then started working at Lethbridge laundry and as a farm labourer hoeing sugar beets.
Lydia met her husband Robert during this time and they dated for seven years before being married on February 22, 1964. Lydia and Robert shared 52 years together and lived on the family farm for three years prior to moving to Coaldale. They raised three children Debbie, David and Doug and enjoyed spending time with their four grandchildren, Morgan, Marina, Zakary and Julia. Lydia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in all of the activities they were involved in.
She was an avid bowler and was a league and team member for 15 years, however her passions were gardening and dancing highlighted by teaching country and western dancing with her husband. Lydia will be dearly missed by all who had a pleasure to meet her.
A Funeral Service will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH – 2329 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 1:00 P.M.
