BARBARA “JOAN” INGOLDSBY passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the age of 75 years.
Joan is survived by her sister Cheryl Weiler; niece Sheri Weiler (Paul) and great nephews CJ and Brad; and nephew Vince (Heather) Weiler and great nephews Robert and Joey.
She was predeceased by her parents Joe and Eva Ingoldsby, sister Debbie Ingoldsby and brother-in-law Jim Weiler.
She spent her first 17 years growing up at the airport, where her dad was manager/chief engineer with the Lethbridge Flying Club. Encouraged by him, she obtained her Private Pilot License at the age of 17. For a few years after her dad’s death in 1960, she took his place writing the Flying Club’s monthly bulletin – The Updraft.
Joan retired in 2003 after working in various positions over the years, including AGT, Chinook Pet Clinic, Lethbridge Animal Shelter and Lethbridge Research Station. She reveled in the freedom of retirement.
She considered herself very fortunate to have been able to travel with friends to many places in the world. Joan especially loved the Caribbean, where she walked in the sand of many different beaches. As passionate as she was about traveling, she was always glad to return to her home and family.
Joan enjoyed and felt blessed with several close lifelong friendships and had acquaintances from many areas of her life.
A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.
Joan will be laid to rest at a Private Graveside Service.
