January 2020 is in the books and things remained very predictable and showed continued signs of a very strong stable market. The number of transactions was up 19% across Lethbridge and the surrounding area when compared to January of last year. This speaks to the confidence in our marketplace and sets things up for a very solid 2020.

Although transactions were up, median home price sales remained constant when compared to the month of January last year. The west side continued to see the most transactions, followed by the north side and then the south Side. Outside of the city, Coaldale saw the most transactions, followed closely by Fort MacLeod and Taber. The majority of the activity was in the $250-$300k range followed by the $300-$350k bracket.

“Forgive us for sounding redundant, but that is the type of market that we are in. It is very stable and shows nice consistent growth year after year. It continues to be an extremely good market for home buyers as we continue to have lots of inventory across allice points and the 5 year lending rates remain historically low. If you are looking to buy or sell and move up, we would recommend that you look at doing it this year as we think rates will remain at this level through 2020.”
