ALVIN “AL” LESLIE JASTER of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Extendicare Fairmont Park on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the age of 90 years.

Al is survived by his loving daughters Ellen (Rick) Lorincz, Susan (Tim) Lefaivre; grandchildren Megan (John Petro) Lorincz, Kevin (Egypt) Lorincz, Michael Lefaivre, and Elizabeth Lefaivre. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Eileen Jaster and many nieces and nephews.

Al was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Helen, his parents, Ludwig and Alena Jaster, his sister and brother-in-law Dinah (Len) Maughan-Ayres, and his twin brother Melvin with whom he had an unbreakable bond.

Dad was born in Morris, Manitoba.  He started working for the Bank of Montreal at the age of eighteen and was employed with them for 32 years. While employed with the bank he worked in Banff, Prince Albert, Winnipeg (twice), Regina, Montreal, North Battleford and finally settled in Lethbridge.  Summer consisted of many family road trips to areas surrounding where we lived.  Dad saw to it that we were able to explore one end of Canada to the other.  After that time, he was an Employment Standards Officer with the Government of Alberta until he retired in 1997.  He always knew that Lethbridge was where he wanted to retire.

Dad loved his retirement. He was a long-standing member of the Lethbridge Country Club. He was passionate about his golf and golfed up until he was 86 years old. He and Mom would travel with friends down to Palm Desert in February so they would be ready for the season.  He also enjoyed curling and fishing in his younger years.  Dad was also very meticulous about his yard and flowers as well as decorating his house for Christmas.  He loved the joy he gave to others through his Christmas decorations.  Our home was often on the Christmas light tour.  He was our go-to guy when we needed something fixed, a basement developed or financial advice.  If you needed help, he was a phone call away.  Dad was the kindest man with a sparkle in his eye when he was laughing and the sweetest smile.  We will miss you.

The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Leam and the wonderful staff at Extendicare Fairmont Park for their exceptional kindness, support, and compassionate care shown to Al during his time there.

A private Family Service will be held.  Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.
