1975 – 2023
BARRETT ALAN KEARNS, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer, while in the arms of his beloved wife, Eisha and son, Nicholas, on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the age of 48 years.
Barrett will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Eisha; son Nicholas (Phoenix Wouda); his parents, Ken and Monica Kearns; sisters: Bonnie (Raif Shath) and Tiffany (Kyle Heitman and son Kingston); parents-in-law, Rick and Joanne MacDonald; brother-in-law Duane Dunstan; sister-in-law, Angela Melnyk; nieces, nephews and other relatives; his friends and co-workers; and his dog Thor.
He will be welcomed into the arms of his grandparents: Alex and Mary Bodie and Fred and Elsie Kearns; and many other relatives and friends.
Barrett was born on April 8, 1975, in Lethbridge to Ken and Monica Kearns. He spent his first three years in town but was happy when the family moved out to the farm where he grew up with his two younger sisters. He spent his childhood getting into mischief, playing hockey, and camping. He started school at Readymade before being bused into Coaldale, to St. Joseph’s and Kate Andrews High School. He graduated alongside a supportive and fun group of friends, many of whom were still in his life.
Barrett married Eisha on Nov 27, 2003 in Mexico. He was a devoted husband and dedicated father to Nicholas, a provider and protector. He prioritized his family for two decades and inspired them with his enduring warmth, joy, and love.
Barrett worked as a surveyor and on the rigs, eventually becoming a drilling consultant and was known for his professionalism, dedication, and innovation, including setting multiple world record runs. No matter what the job, however, he always tried to be available to help on the farm at seeding and harvesting.
Barrett had a passion for fast vehicles and thrived on adrenaline. He was always up for a challenge and a friendly competition. He loved his Mustangs, Dodge trucks and motorbikes. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding his Harley, perfecting his long-range shooting, fishing, and snowmobiling. His love for travel grew during his recent six-month tour around Mexico with Eisha and loyal companion Thor, pulling a cargo trailer loaded with his Harley and Eisha’s Ryker. The serendipitous timing of this trip created many cherished memories.
Rest in peace Barrett. Your memory will forever live on in our hearts.
The family would like to thank Palliative and Home Care Teams for their excellent support and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Pat Siedlecki officiating. The Memorial Service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Barrett’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
