The Man, The Myth, The Legend
My sweetheart, DALE WALTER KRUSE passed away peacefully at his home in Raymond, Alberta on April 10th, 2025.
If there are any words to describe Dale, they would be… He was a good man. A very good man!
He was loved by many and respected by all. He was kind, honest, and hardworking, but above all, he loved his family beyond measure.
He was quiet in his feelings but in his actions, he proved his love each and every day. There weren’t any limitations to his efforts when helping his family and friends; never questioning, never turning away, never expecting anything in return. He was always willing to lend a hand, a tool, or advice to anyone in need. He was who we all strive to be.
Dale’s dedication to excellence in his chosen career as highway asphalt road construction superintendent was felt by everyone who worked alongside him. Since the age of 15 until his retirement, Dale worked tirelessly to ensure that the job he completed was a job well done. This marked the beginning of the title – The Man, The Myth, The Legend. He was always striving to do his absolute best, always willing to push himself and encourage his crew to do the same, wanting them to be proud of themselves and the work they had contributed. He wore his tuxedo proudly; steel-toed boots, jeans, a black t-shirt covered by a denim long sleeve shirt with rolled up cuffs always meant it was time to work and work he did. From sunup to sundown, even times when the roads were illuminated by spotlights, he worked until the job was not just done, but done well.
The oil and asphalt mix ran through his veins until the end. Even after his retirement, if he should spot road construction, he would roll down his truck window to breathe in the scent of his past. To his family and the people who loved him the most, the smell of freshly laid black top will forever fill us with a sense of home, warmth, strength, unconditional love and memories of Dad.
After Dale retired, he worked for a short time as an RV salesman with Centerline RV and enjoyed interacting with the people very much. It was fun to watch this new side of Dale blossom.
He spent his retirement years thinking of golf, dreaming of golf, playing golf, and trying to perfect his golf swing. He enjoyed many family golf road trips over the years and we all thoroughly enjoyed recounting with him every course he played. The balls hit, water hazards missed and the few that weren’t, long drives and short chips, each swing had a wonderful memory attached to it. To Dale, every day spent golfing was a day well spent regardless of the score card (well most of the time anyway).
Dale suffered through many life-altering physical afflictions in his life. Never complaining, never questioning, never wishing away the hardships. He faced them with bravery and resilience. He suffered them all with quiet dignity and strength while making the necessary adjustments along the way. Not once did he ask for special treatment or favors. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, Dale was a rock. Strong, brave, and true.
To his children, grandchildren, family, and friends, Dale was the man we could lean on for support or guidance. He was an unfaltering moral compass. He led by example, treating everyone with kindness, always honest, always steadfast in his beliefs. He was a guiding light to us all.
We miss you already my sweet and we will forever until we meet again. Thank you for the life you shared with us, the life you gave to us and the sacrifices you made for us. Thank you for your love, your wisdom, and your example.
Survived by his soul mate and loving wife, Pat, his children, Regan White, Trevor Kruse (Darcie), Courtney Hall (Chance), his grandchildren, Tanner, Morgan, Marshall, Madison (Jordan), Kyra, Aiden, Paige (Dylan), Liam, Corbin, Mila, Declan, and great-grandchild Lily. Sister Dianna Weinkauf, brother in laws Bob Sauerwein (Gay), Stan Sauerwein, sister-in-law Janet Sauerwein (Ken Reid), his nieces and nephews and the many good friends that have all added so much joy to his life.
