Rose Mary Low Horn (Misamsiipistaakii – Long Time Owl Woman)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, friend at the age of 63 years on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Rose is survived by her husband Henry Bird, children: Christie, Nathan (Tamara Provost) and Larissa Wells; her grandchildren: Cobi (Tyler Swag), Chapel, Amerie, Angelica, Michal, Noah, Austin, Hilda, Ryden, and baby Rose.
Rose grew up in a large family in the Bull Horn area on the Blood Reserve. Rose was a talented athlete who was especially talented in Fastball, and Volleyball, often receiving awards such as Most Valuable Player. In her younger days, she participated on various teams such as the Low Horn family team “The Senators” and the “Smokies”. She was a versatile all-around player but she was especially talented when it came to attacker, although she was short, she could really spike the ball.
Rose was a very kind person; she had many friends whom she cherished deeply. Her children often got annoyed because they said they could never get anywhere fast because she was constantly stopping to visit friends. Rose had a lot of hobbies she enjoyed; she really loved dancing, and travelling the most. Rose was a strong Catholic; her faith was something her family admired, and she especially loved to pray the rosaries.
Rose was a health care aide. She worked at Cardston Hospital and the St. Paul’s Treatment Centre with her sisters, Theresa Cross Child and Elizabeth Wadsworth.
Rose is survived by her sister Roselyn (Thomas) Holy Singer and brother Dale Low Horn Sr. (
She was predeceased by her parent’s Jim and Mary Rose Low Horn; her brothers Adrian, Patrick, Paul, Robert, David, James and Edward Low Horn; sisters Elizabeth Wadsworth, Theresa Cross Child, and Virginia Low Horn; sister-in-law Sylvia Low Horn; one nephew Edward Holy Singer; one niece Sally Cross Child; one paternal aunt Gertrude Fox, three maternal aunts: Margret (Jim) Young Pine, Rachel Crying Head, and Philomena Hairy Bull; uncles: Albert Wolf Child, Alfred Hairy Bull, and Lawrence Hairy Bull; cousins Wolf Childs, Hairy Bull, Eagle Plumes, Little Bears, Plain Women, Weasel Head, Young Pine, English, Bom With A Tooth; Long Time Squirrel, Paula Weasel Head family, Annie Red Crow family, John Fox family, Devine’s, Fox’s, Morning Owls, Chief Moons, Many Chiefs & Heavy Runners.
A Wake Service will be held at GLADSTONE HALL, Blood Reserve, AB, on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be held at the ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Blood Reserve, AB, on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 A.M.
Following the Funeral Mass, Rose Mary will be laid to rest in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Blood Reserve, AB.
